Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for an organised, self-motivated, and creative individual to join the Communications & Engagement Team at Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust as Communications Assistant.
Working as part of the wider Communications and Engagement team, the Communications Assistant will be required to demonstrate a wide range of communications administration skills and be an exceptional team player.
Main duties of the job
- Lead on administrative tasks on behalf of the Communications and Engagement team.
- Support the Communications Team with the management of the Communications inbox - triaging enquiries and actioning requests when appropriate. To deal effectively with queries, some of them complex, ensuring a prompt, accurate and polite response, acting on own initiative and deciding appropriate action as necessary.
- Supporting the team to monitor media coverage, social media, contacts databases and distribution lists.
- Support with videography and photography.

- Support the team with procurement administration, placing orders in line with Trust finance procedures.
- Ensure all incoming and outgoing post is processed promptly.
Communications
- Manage the administration of media enquiries, and ensure that all enquiries are logged and responded to within deadlines, including FOI responses
- Help maintain press release files, distribution lists and contact databases.
- Support the team with internal and external communications, gathering and uploading content and to the Trusts intranet and external website.
- Support the co-ordination of the day-to-day use of Trust social media channels.
- Support with making changes an updates to the Trusts digital platforms including the corporate website and intranet.
- Support with communications tasks and projects such as writing stories and drafting social media content.
