Job summary

COPD Specialist Nurse - 22.5 hours per week

An exciting opportunity has arisen and we are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our Community Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) team based in Horsham.

This post may suit a nurse with previous respiratory experience or an experienced clinician with advanced skills that are transferrable to this position.

Main duties of the job

This specialist role will require experience in working with patients with COPD/respiratory conditions. Knowledge of long-term oxygen therapy and pulmonary rehabilitation would be desirable, or a willingness to learn. Educating patients, healthcare professionals and local groups is another essential part of our work, as well as engaging with other services to deliver the best possible care.

The post holder will need to demonstrate a commitment to providing high quality evidence-based care, be able to work independently as well as part of a team, and be able to prioritise and organise their own case load.

To deputise for the Clinical Lead when requested, in their absence, taking responsibility for operational management of the team, allocating and organising the work of assistant staff to meet service priorities on a daily basis by ensuring continuity of safe practice and that the team complies with the organisational and departmental policies.

To undertake evidence-based audit and research projects to develop and enhance personal and teams clinical practice within their area.

To take a role in the in-service training programme by attendance at, and participating in, and delivering in-service training.

To be responsible, with other staff, for the supervision, education and assessment of graduate level students, work experience student nurses, and other health care professionals when required.
