Job summary

We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Patient Access Manager (PAM) to support the effective and sustainable delivery of the Specialist Services in the East Operations Directorate.

The post holder will work at the very forefront of community healthcare, providing specialist expertise to our operational teams based across Sussex.

The successful candidate will be a key member of the Specialist Services leadership team. They will be able to demonstrate the skills and knowledge required to manage complex waiting lists and have a proven track record of delivering improvements to waiting times standards. They will also have strong informatics/data analytics skills and experience of using data to make informed decisions around changes to operational processes and/or future service developments.

The successful candidate will also need to demonstrate compassionate leadership, knowledge of quality improvement and change management, able to work well within a team, be driven and motivated, able to prioritise and have excellent communication skills.

Main duties of the job

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced PAM or Business Manager looking to broaden their portfolio experience within a community healthcare setting.

The successful candidate can expect to:

  • Deliver sustainable performance improvements in relation to waiting times standards.
  • Be responsible for the management of the Patient Tracking List (PTL) / Waiting List (WL) for a range of specialist services.
  • Work alongside Clinical Services Managers (CSMs) and the General Manager (GM) to identify capacity and resources needed to help reduce the waiting list backlog and achieve compliance with the targets.
  • Develop, together with the Trust's Information Team, a system of regular reporting and monitoring of the waiting list per specialty.

Desirable

  • Previous project management qualification or experience

  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Experience and practical knowledge of the PTL/WL management
  • Experience of working in acute or community service environment managing PTL/WL
  • Ability to speak confidently to clinical staff and senior managerial staff

Desirable

  • Ability to work flexibly and being able to quickly adapt to ad-hoc requests

Skills and Knowledge

Essential

  • Sound knowledge of RTT waiting times targets and guidelines
  • Fully competent with IT skills
  • Fully competent with Systmone
  • Fully competent with the use of Excel
  • Ability to travel or work unsocial hours if required to facilitate success of the programme.
