Job summary

Sister/Charge Nurse - 15 hours per week

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Clinical Assessment Team/planned treatment Centre as a Sister/ Charge Nurse on a permanent contract. This includes coordinating and delegating individual patient care by working across boundaries within secondary and social care settings.

As Charge Nurse based at Crawley Hospital, the post holder is to act as deputy for the Ward Manager, being responsible for general ward and staff management and safe delivery of quality patient care within their area.

Main duties of the job

Clinical and patient care

  1. Assesses patients, plans implements care, provides advice and maintains associated records
  2. Works autonomously to manage a caseload of patients, acting as a lead assuming responsibility and accountability for assessing, implementing and evaluating care for the designated clinical area
  3. Ensure that nursing care is delivered within the unit and is compliant with legal, professional and organisational standards
  4. To provide leadership, support and guidance to staff in monitoring the planned delivery and evaluation of individualised care
  5. Ensure safe and effective care for complex patients requiring advanced clinical skills
  6. Be responsible for assessing and recognising emergencies in the unit
  7. To interpret information and take appropriate action and to lead others to do the same
  8. Act as an advocate for patients within the department, to ensure a patient orientated approach to the delivery of care and to meet standards within the NHS plan and other relevant guidelines
  9. Ensure that patients receive high quality clinical care and a good patient experience having regard for their customs, religious beliefs and doctrines
  10. Recognise and avoid situations that may be detrimental to the health and wellbeing of the individuals
  11. Is wholly accountable for their practice in line with the NMC code and tales every reasonable opportunity to sustain and improve their knowledge and professional competence

In conjunction with other senior nurses, ensures that an annual training needs of junior staff are being maintained, and which is communicated to the Clinical Lead.e) Ensures evidence based innovative practice in the delivery of nursing care and supports others in the implementation of changes identified to improve care.f) Ensures that all medical and emergency equipment is kept in a safe condition, regularly checked and is ready for use when required, and that faulty equipment is reported and/or replaced as necessary.g) To develop an understanding of the delegated budget for the unit, andparticipate in the procedure for ordering supplies within the agreed budget
