Job Summary

The Voluntary and Community Development Team at Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated team player who would like to join our service as a Volunteer Manager. To be passionate about all things volunteering and committed to improving our patients' experiences whilst in our care. The post holder will support the Trust in delivering volunteer support to all services within SCFT and ensure we deliver excellent care at the heart of the community, and will be responsible for recruiting volunteers in the West of our organisation including Bognor Regis War Memorial Hospital, with other sites to be discussed at interview where we work with our many clinical services within the community. They will work within a supportive and caring team and have the ability and desire to make changes and quality improvements to benefit the patient experience.

Key requirements

  • Strong influencer, communicator- able to establish strong relationships with a range of differing stakeholders e.g. ward matrons and managers, general managers, clinical service managers, clinical staff, and external partners including volunteers.
  • This post is full time, flexible (Core hours 8-6 Monday to Friday) and to be agreed upon job offer. A combination of working remotely and working in official/various sites can be offered with expectation of driving to different sites to meet with volunteers and staff and the requirement for occasional out-of-hours attendance

To manage the recruitment, interviewing, and selection, of all volunteers within the locality, according to the Volunteer Policy. To develop the role of volunteers, working with staff, clinical and non-clinical to ensure that the Volunteer Policy is implemented locally. Along with developing innovative volunteer roles that will enhance the patient experience. Review, audit and monitor these roles to demonstrate impact. To liaise with staff and obtain role requests and risk assessments for volunteer opportunities so volunteers can be placed appropriately. Ensuring high standards of risk assessment are available for the volunteers including young people. To work and recruit from local schools, colleges, youth organisations and community groups to encourage and facilitate volunteering.

To prioritise your workload under the guidance of senior staff and develop office procedures with the Voluntary Services Administrator whom you will have line management responsibilities.

To actively recruit volunteers and undertake interviews, and recruitment processes.

Support and management of volunteers within the Locality and according to the needs of the services, ensuring services are aware of their responsibilities.

To share accurate and statistical information as requested by the Voluntary and Community Development Lead/Senior Manager.

To publicise the activities of the Volunteers within the Locality as appropriate liaising with the line manager/communications in line with the Volunteer Strategy.

To sensitively support charities where needed and agreed.

To work alongside the Volunteer and Community Development Lead/ Senior Manager/Coordinator in developing the Newsletter/publicity material/communications and attending Thank You Events/networking opportunities which may be out of core hours. Toile will be given.

To actively participate in the development of the service annual work plan,

Participate in Team meetings and actions to implement the Volunteer Strategy.

Undertake appropriate training as required as identified at appraisal meetings, to achieve agreed standards of personal and professional development.

To represent the Volunteer and Community Development team within the locality disseminating information to the Team where necessary and appropriate

Build and strengthen communications and links with staff in the defined locality.

To be a representative for Voluntary Services meetings within SCFT
