Job summary

There is an exciting opportunity for a 1 WTE Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to join our friendly team based at Brighton General Hospital. You will be part of a large dynamic team and have opportunities to develop your clinical skills with support from both specialist and advanced practitioners.

You will be working with patients who live across Brighton and Hove. The postholder will manage a varied community caseload, with adults presenting with both progressive and non-progressive conditions and a range of communication and swallowing difficulties. Post-qualification dysphagia training and experience is essential and you need to have had at least two years' experience in adult neurology.

We would consider applications from SLTs currently working as band 5. Applicants must already have a minimum of 6 months experience working within their band 5 role.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree (or recognised equivalent) in Speech and Language Therapy
  • Registered member RCSLT and HCPC
  • Postgraduate and experiential training in relevant areas

Desirable

  • Membership of relevant CEN(s)

Experience

  • Band 5: Relevant experience of working with adults with acquired communication and/or swallowing difficulties at undergraduate/ post graduate level
  • Band 5: Experience of multidisciplinary working within acute and/or community settings, including understanding of the roles of other professionals relevant to caseload
  • Band 6: Min 2 years post-graduation in clinical specialism (s) in acquired adult disorders
  • Band 6: Post basic training and experience in dysphagia
  • Band 6: Participation in student placements
  • Band 6: Participation in provision of training to others
  • Band 5: At least 6 months post graduate experience in Band 5 role (or equivalent)
