Job summary

Therapy Assistant - 37.5 hours per week

We are looking for a dynamic, proactive and enthusiastic Therapy Assistant to join our innovative service. The recently established Post Covid Assessment and Support Service supports those with Long Covid. This role offers the opportunity to work virtually with patients to review their progress and further support with their recovery from Covid. You will work alongside a multidisciplinary team including Physiotherapists, Occupational therapists, nurses, care coordinators and medical advisors. Candidates must be highly IT literate, excellent at communicating and ideally have previous experience of working with people.

Main duties of the job

  1. To undertake reviews and repeat outcome measures with patients who have already been assessed within the Post Covid Assessment Service. This will occur 3 months and 6 months post initial assessment.
  2. To give basic advice and guidance to patients in order to support management of Post Covid Syndrome.
  3. To work closely with the multidisciplinary team when devising management plans for patients.
  4. To collect outcome measure data in a central location for future analysis.
  5. To assist with administration as required.
  6. To maintain accurate patient records.
  7. To assess and manage clinical risk in conjunction with the clinician involved.
  8. To be able to manage potentially stressful, upsetting and emotional situations in an empathetic manner.
  9. To adhere to departmental and Trust policies.
  10. To maintain and provide accurate and timely statistical information as required.
  11. To undertake training as necessary in line with the development of the post and as agreed with the line manager as part of the personal development plan process
  12. To carry out any other general duties applicable to the post as directed by the team leads.

A large part of the role will be to conduct telephone or video assessment with individuals with Post Covid Syndrome. During the consultation you will be reviewing how they are doing and address any concerns they have remaining as a result of their condition. You will give basic advise and guidance, as well as working closely with different health care professionals to ensure they receive the bets support possible.
