We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Pharmacy Technician with a passion for digital transformation to join our Pharmacy Digital Team.
This role provides the opportunity to significantly contribute to the digital transformation of prescribing and medicines administration within Velindre University NHS Trust.
The implementation of general ePMA systems will revolutionise medicines processes, enhancing safety and efficiency. Utilising your extensive knowledge of medicines management, you will play an essential role in configuring and testing the ePMA system, developing training programmes, and supporting staff through the transition to digital workflows.
The successful candidate will actively promote digital engagement, support clinical teams, collaborate with digital project teams, and liaise with external stakeholders to ensure successful system adoption.
Main duties of the job
- Provide expert pharmacy technician advice and contribute actively to all phases of general ePMA system implementation, including configuration, drug database development, testing, and optimisation.
- Design, deliver, and evaluate comprehensive training programmes for dispensary-based and ward-based pharmacy technicians and wider clinical staff.
- Contribute to the safe implementation and ongoing management of the general ePMA drug catalogue, ensuring compliance with relevant pharmaceutical legislation and clinical guidelines.
- Lead or participate in audits and research activities to demonstrate the benefits realisation of the ePMA project.
- Develop and implement new policies and procedures related to electronic prescribing to ensure safe medication practices.
- Support staff through significant workflow changes and provide mentoring and guidance to ensure effective adoption of the general ePMA system.
- Act as an ambassador for digital working practices, advocating for the concept of 'digital-first' wards and hospitals.
- Participate in incident investigations, proactively mitigating risks and ensuring continuous system improvement.
- Participate in evening, weekend, and bank holiday rotas during key implementation periods.
