THIS POST IS FIXED TERM FOR UPTO 24 MONTHS DUE TO MEET THE NEEDS OF THE SERVICE
To participate in oncology patient management in clinical trials at the Cardiff Cancer Research Partnership
To become familiar with trial protocols and working practice within Velindre Cancer Service (VCS) and Cardiff Cancer Research Partnership
To promote unifying working practice in clinical trials Cardiff Cancer Research Partnership between VCS trials unit and Clinical Research Facility (CRF) at University Hospital of Wales (UHW) and perform duties at both sites.
Main duties of the job
To conduct research within oncology trial research and contribute to the overall research performance of Velindre, carrying out research contributing to improvements in delivery of oncology clinical trials at Cardiff Cancer Research Partnership and leading to the publishing of work in high-quality journals. The post is also designed to generate research proposals that can be submitted to gain funding to undertake a higher research degree.

- Qualified Medical Practitioner
- MRCP or equivalent
- Full GMC Registration and License to Practice
Desirable
- MSc, BSc, PhD
- Knowledge of grant applications
- Knowledge of the process through R&D for clinical trials
- SCE - Specialty Certificate Examination in Medical Oncology or equivalent
- Postgraduate qualification in Oncology
- Proven publication record including a first author publication
Experience
Essential
- Clinical experience at the ST3 level or higher in medical oncology
- Oncology experience including recruiting and management of patients into clinical trials
- Completion of NIHR Associate PI scheme
- Experiencing of delivering presentations at a regional, national and international level
- IT skills particularly in the use of MS office applications
- Analytical skills - able to analyse and present complex data, in a range of formats to a variety of audiences
Desirable
- Oncology experience to STR level
- Experience of working in or managing patients requiring high dependency/ intensive care
- Proven ability to manage own time and deliver a range of tasks to deadlines
- Experience of Phase oncology 1 trials
- Postgraduate certificate in Teaching and Learning for Health Professionals
