Senior Project Manager Radiotherapy Training Program Assessment
An exciting secondment opportunity has arisen for an existing NHS Wales employee to support the Wales Cancer Network (WCN), Clinical Oncology Subcommittee (COSC), Multi-professional Target Definition Group (MPRTD) with a commitment for 0.5 wte starting on 1st September or ASAP thereafter. The tenure of the role will be 3 months.
We are seeking a dynamic and driven individual with knowledge of radiotherapy and experience of project management to investigate and report on the feasibility of a national education and training programme for a multi-professional target definition workforce and prepare a fully costed business case for its implementation.
This role is needed to help inform the direction of travel for radiotherapy target delineation training for Wales.
The post holder will need to liaise with stakeholders in order to understand the training requirements of a multiprofessional radiotherapy target delineation workforce in Wales, and research and evaluate the existing training courses and resources, identifying any gaps.
The post holder will be required to develop an options appraisal and prepare a business case for a project to address the identified service need.
A wide-reaching role, this requires adaptability, excellent communication and a determination to engage and deliver to achieve service change.
Main duties of the job

The post holder will plan, coordinate and manage their activities to engage with identified personnel from the three Welsh cancer centres: namely Velindre Cancer Centre in Cardiff; the South West Wales Cancer Centre in Swansea; and the North Wales Cancer Centre in Colwyn Bay, and HEIW (Health Education and Innovation Wales) to understand and describe the service needs and the aspirations for developing a multi-professional radiotherapy target delineation workforce. The primary focus of the role is to ascertain if training needs for multi-professional target delineation can be met using existing courses and frameworks, otherwise identifying the resources and systems required to develop a training pipeline to fill the gap.
The post holder will champion Value Based Healthcare (VBHC) and work to develop a costed business case for multi-professional radiotherapy target definition training to improve patient outcomes while improving resource utilisation, partnering with Medical Physics, Radiotherapy and Clinical Oncology departments, HEIW and other Stakeholders to facilitate the education and training of clinical and scientific roles in the principles of VBHC.
This post will be hosted by Velindre Cancer Centre. However, line management and working location will be decided based on the successful candidates current place of work.
