Job summary
This is an opportunity for an enthusiastic nurse to develop professionally and expand their clinical leadership skills by becoming part of SACT Nursing Team.
You must have a comprehensive understanding of cancer patient's needs; advanced communication skills for advising patients, relatives and other health professionals along with excellent SACT administration and complication management skills.
You must be flexible and able to work shifts across 7 days per week.
Main duties of the job
A commitment to quality improvement and patient safety is a must. You will need to be dynamic with an ability to work on your own initiative and be able to Co-ordinate and prioritize care in a busy environment, whilst supporting and managing staff. This will include the assessment of patients and clinical decision making both at Velindre and in the outreach clinics. To provide safe delivery and care of our patient receiving treatment. You will be using your clinical skills to assess patients who are attending for treatment and/or those who become unwell during treatment. You will also need to be confident in your skills as part of the role will include undertaking assessments of patients via the SACT Treatment Helpline Service.
A key part of the role as a Charge Nurse is to provide mentoring and support/guidance to the junior members of the SACT Nursing Team.
You will join a forward thinking and innovative team who are committed to improving the care for patients receiving oncology treatment. Flexibility in approach and commitment to service is essential for this post as it will cover all nursing areas including inpatient, day case, and chemotherapy and outreach settings.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
