Job summary
To determine the immune correlates of successful radiotherapy response in patients with head and neck cancer.
To work with laboratory scientists in the Division of Infection and Immunity at CU supervised by Professor Awen Gallimore (CRUK Programme Grant holder), and the Head and Neck Multidisciplinary Team supervised by Professor Mererid Evans (Director, Wales Cancer Research Centre).
To oversee the delivery of novel and/or complex clinical trials at the Cardiff Cancer Research Hub (CCRH), the 'front door' to translational cancer research in Cardiff.
This post is fixed term for 2 years to meet the needs of the service.
Main duties of the job
Co-funded by Velindre Charitable Funds and the Wales Cancer Research Centre (WCRC), this Clinical Research Fellowship will be focused on 'Determining the immune correlates of successful radiotherapy response in patients with head and neck cancer'.
The post holder will be supported to undertake a higher research degree (MD) and the Fellowship will provide an opportunity for an oncology trainee to undertake a dedicated period of research during their training, equipping them with the skills, knowledge and links to become future cancer research leaders in Wales.
