Job summary
A unique opportunity has arisen for an exciting and impactful role to lead the Velindre Cancer Services at this formative stage. As Divisional Director, Velindre Cancer Services (VCS) you will be an integral part of the Divisional Triumvirate, working collaboratively with the Divisional Medical Director and Divisional Nurse Director to ensure effective and efficient operational processes are in place.
You will be a visible, credible and influential leader, who demonstrates strong, consistent and effective operational delivery skills with a proven track record of achievement. Central to this role is the ongoing engagement of clinical managers in this specialist environment to ensure delivery of local and national priorities, as well as the service redesign required to transition services to the new Velindre Cancer Centre (nVCC) in 2027.
As a successful candidate you will possess exceptional strategic and operational expertise to deliver, evaluate and progress the Trust's vision in achieving excellence in healthcare delivering safe, high-quality patient care within available resources. You will play a pivotal role in the integration of Research, Development & Innovation as part of our journey to nVCC.
Beyond your Divisional remit, you will support the delivery of Cancer pathways within the Trust and across the wider healthcare community.

Main duties of the job
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), the main duties of the Divisional Director are:
Leadership and management of all VCS
Service delivery and operational performance across VCS
Performance of the clinical pathways against local and national treatment standards
Ensuring safe, high quality patient centered services that benchmarks favourability with Specialist Peer Group
Financial management and delivery against agreed targets
Instil a culture of inclusion, maximising opportunities for patient and public involvement
Workforce planning, to meet the current and future needs of the services
Ensure Research, Development & Innovation is integral to VCS service delivery
