Job summary
Velindre Cancer Centre is a division of the Trust, and one of the leading non-surgical oncology centres in the United Kingdom. The challenge is to go further and achieve the quality of services, patient experience and clinical outcomes that are comparable with the best in Europe and the western world. In support of this ambition, the Trust has facilitated the Transforming Cancer Services Programme, which sets out a compelling vision for excellence in South East Wales. Working closely with Welsh Government and Local Health Boards, the programme will consist of a number of projects which include the development of a new cancer centre (nVCC) in Cardiff, a Radiotherapy Satellite Centre in Abergavenny and the reconfiguration of outreach services.
The post holder will work in the nVCC Project as part of the Commercial Workstream, supporting the Assistant Project Director in delivering the workstream objectives. The post requires an individual who has excellent organisational and communication skills. Experience of working in healthcare setting is desirable but not essential.
Main duties of the job
- The new Velindre Cancer Centre (nVCC) Project team is seeking a Contracts and Commercial Project Manager to support the nVCC Project through the exciting Construction and Commissioning Phase.
- An ambitious and experienced Commercial and Contracts Project Manager is required to work in a small team led by the Assistant Project Director. The team sits within the wider Project Management Office.
- The Commercial and Contracts Project Manager will be responsible for supporting the management of the Project Agreement and its range of obligations, providing regular monitoring information. In addition, the role will be responsible for managing the individual procurements and contracts which are integral to the delivery of a new Velindre Cancer Centre.
- The Commercial and Contracts Project Manager will also be responsible for refining and improving project management documentation and processes, and ensuring they are best utilised and updated in a timely manner.
- The successful applicant will need to establish credibility with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and have the required strategic, planning and performance skills to support the delivery of the Projects.
- The post holder will be directly responsible to the Assistant Project Director. Applicants should be able to demonstrate a track record of success in delivering successful projects and a complex environment.
