Job summary
The Lead CNS is professionally and managerially responsible and accountable for a team of site specific Clinical Nurse Specialists and support staff such as cancer Navigators. The CNS Lead has professional responsibility for developing and delivering on agreed professional standards, service performance and all matters relating to training and professional development.
The post holder will be the Strategic & Operational lead for the CNS service including recruitment & retention.
The post holder will lead on the development of a CNS review which will focus on patient experience ensuring that the CNS service contributes to the Trust's responsibilities in relation to capturing, reporting and acting upon patient experience
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
- To ensure that processes are in place within the CNS service to optimise the quality and efficiency of care delivered.
- To contribute to the development, implementation and monitoring of business plans. To manage the devolved budget, maximising resources, including staff, equipment and time.
- To support a culture of continuous care and quality improvement across the division, and participate in trust-wide quality initiatives.
- To contribute elements of investigations and complaints within the division, ensuring that appropriate action is taken.
- The CNS Lead will provide leadership and direction to the nursing staff providing a visible clinical profile and line management support.
- The CNS Lead will be professionally accountable and required to act autonomously in providing guidance to other clinical professionals based on own specialist skills, knowledge and experience.
- The CNS Lead will contribute to the senior nurse operational rota.
- The CNS may be required to deputise for the Head and Deputy Head of Nursing infrequently on site or at both internal and external meetings.
