Job summary
This new post is to provide specialist radiology services to Velindre Cancer Centre, University Hospital Llandough Breast Centre for the symptomatic breast service and to Breast Test Wales for the NHS breast cancer screening programme in Wales.
The post holder will be competent in oncological radiology including reporting of CT, MR and ultrasound scans, Multi Disciplinary Team meeting attendance, general radiology oncall work and basic interventional procedures.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will spend two days in VCC and perform CT and MR reporting, upper GI MDT participation as well as limited interventional work. At VCC the postholder following sufficient notice may be required to do day oncall and then the SPA is allocated to the day without oncall and daytime work adjusted. Also the Upper GI mdt prepararion and attendance will be replaced by additional reporting during alternate weeks.
For the breast radiology sessions, the post holder will provide mammography reporting, including tomosynthesis, breast and axillary ultrasound, image guided biopsy of breast and axilla, and vacuum assisted biopsy / excision, breast MRI reporting, pre-operative localisation and MDT presentation within both the symptomatic service at UHL and the screening service at BTW.
The post holder will be expected to undertake both symptomatic and screening assessment clinics providing the radiology expertise with breast and axillary ultrasound and ultrasound guided core biopsy or stereotactic guided core biopsy as required.
