Job summary
Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner - Band 8a
South Wiltshire locality
20 Hours per week - Permanent
We are looking for
an experienced, self-motivated, Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner (APP) to
join our established musculoskeletal (MSK) physiotherapy service. This position
is based in South Wiltshire and will be within the Orthopaedic Interface
Service (OIS) spinal team. South OIS localities include Salisbury District
Hospital, Amesbury and Central Health Clinic.
Preferably we are
looking for a professional MSK APP already working at Band 8a. However, we would also consider a Trainee Band
7 APP post pending application/experience.
The post holder must have significant clinical experience in MSK
physiotherapy with specialist knowledge in spinal pathologies. It is important
that the individual has experience of working in a clinic environment to provide
a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
You must be able
to demonstrate an advanced level of assessment and clinical reasoning skills
and hold (or be working towards) a post graduate qualification or recognised
training in advanced physiotherapy practice. Excellent communication skills
with a variety of people, conditions and within demanding situations are also a
requirement.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work closely with the South Spinal Consultants in Secondary care with available MDT sessions and opportunities to work in spinal secondary care clinics.
Part of your role
is to join the team triaging all referrals to secondary care to ensure patients
follow the evidence-based pathways of care and adhere to criteria based access
to orthopaedic clinics in Secondary Care.
The role would be
joining a purely musculoskeletal and orthopaedic service where you would have
excellent training and CPD opportunities, following an APP competency framework
(Wiltshire Health and Care have supported many clinicians through the ACP MSc
to date). There will be a need to work closely with the Physiotherapy Team
Leads, Spinal network and other Allied Health Professionals and non-clinical
staff, GP's, secondary/tertiary care consultants and other agencies. This will
also include offering clinical mentorship of MSK Physiotherapy staff. The post
holder will drive audit and research in this field to ensure high standard of
evidence based practice is provided for our patients and you will be involved
in service development and improvement.
The successful
candidate will be team spirited, and possess a friendly, professional attitude
to supplement their excellent MSK knowledge. There is currently no on call rota
or weekend working.
