Specialist Biomedical Scientist in Manufacturing & Distribution

Job summary

The Welsh Blood Service has an opportunity for a HCPC registered Specialist Biomedical Scientist to work within the Manufacturing & Distribution Laboratory.

Applicants for this post must have completed or be working towards a specialist qualification (either IBMS Specialist Diploma in Transfusion Science & GMP or BBTS Specialist Certificate to practice, Annex 21 applicable).

The post holder will work in a team and be responsible for manufacturing blood components suitable for transfusion or distribution of blood components to customer hospitals

Main duties of the job

The role will be in the Manufacturing & Distribution department and will involve working as a leader in a team to ensure the production of blood components that will be distributed though out Wales.

Duties may also encompass distribution of blood components to customer hospitals.

This role includes the requirement to participate in a 24/7 on-call rota.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

  • BSc Hons in Biomedical Sciences (accredited by IBMS) for HCPC registration
