Stem Cell Transplant Coordination Unit Manager

Job summary

  • Manage the staff in the Welsh Bone Marrow Donor Registry (WBMDR) Coordination Unit and manage the administration and co-ordination of services.
  • Manage the facilitation of the provision of unrelated donor blood stem cells from UK national or international registries for clinical transplantation to a patient in Wales.
  • Manage the provision of unrelated and related donor blood stem cells from the WBMDR for clinical transplantation to a patient in the rest of the UK or Internationally

Main duties of the job

  • Coordinate all activities relating to the importation of blood stem cells from either the UK or overseas on behalf of the WBMDR Programme
  • Coordinate all activities relating to the export of blood stem cells from Wales to International Transplant centres on behalf of the WBMDR including labelling and release of product.
  • Coordinate all activities relating to the import of stem cells for related allogeneic transplantation.
  • To undertake operational administration associated with the WBMDR.
  • Act as line manager to the Stem Cell Coordination unit and WBMDR Donor Recruitment and Retention staff.
  • Implement Donor Recruitment and Retention strategies
  • Responsible for meeting organisational targets (KPI's)
