Public Heath Wales Microbiology operates as a network of laboratories with regional laboratories across Wales.
You will use your knowledge and skills as a Biomedical Scientist in our team at Singleton Hospital to perform routine screening and diagnostic infectious serology as well as routine molecular diagnostics.
Main duties of the job
This post would suit candidates that have proven Microbiology laboratory experience and associated work based education and competency or a science graduate. The successful candidates will have the opportunity to rotate through a number of sections during their employment, gaining experience in a number of methodologies to include molecular science and microbiological diagnostic testing.
The laboratory is an IBMS approved training laboratory. The Public Health Wales, Microbiology network is ISO 15189 accredited. An understanding of good laboratory practice and ISO15189 quality management is essential.To ensure that the laboratory can provide a 24/7 acute service, the post holder will be expected to participate in unsocial hours working (weekend/Bank Holiday/on call) as per published roster.
