Public Health Wales

Information Governance Officer

The closing date is 30 June 2025

Job summary

Welcome to Public Health Wales, the Welsh national public health agency, where we are working to achieve a healthier future for Wales.

Do you believe that the people of Wales should enjoy the highest quality public services? Do you believe in openness and transparency in public bodies? If so, there is an exciting opportunity to further develop your skills and knowledge in the Information Governance Service within Public Health Wales NHS Trust.

The Information Governance Service exists to support the organisation to delivering high quality services across the whole agenda of public health, whilst processing the population's personal data fairly, safely and lawfully in compliance with all relevant legislation. Due to a recent promotion, a vacancy has arisen for an Information Governance Support Officer to join the small team.

Main duties of the job

You will be an inquisitive and highly organised individual, who is highly motivated and delivery focussed, and has excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Your previous experience will enable you to support the various processes managed by a team of Information Governance Managers and to manage and administer the complex Freedom of Information Management System, thereby ensuring that requests are handled in a timely manner in compliance with legislative requirements.

Whilst expert knowledge of the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act is not necessary, your commitment to personal development will ensure that you will achieve the necessary professional qualifications within a reasonable timescale.

Working under the direction of the Head of Information Governance, but with plenty of scope to work autonomously, you will be able to work to deadlines and be able to work on major projects using your own initiative and judgment when required, operating effectively as part of a small and dedicated team. The role will give you an excellent insight to the fascinating field of Information Governance in a complex organisation and would suit a person with career aspirations in this direction.
