This job is now closed

Job summary

We are seeking to recruit a Young Persons' Smoking Prevention Trainer to join the Health Improvement Division within Public Health Wales.

The role is to provide maternity cover for a period of 10 months (office base in Cardiff). From 17 February 2025 - 19 December 2025

Main duties of the job

You will be an enthusiastic individual with relevant skills and experience in working with young people. You will contribute to the planning, delivery and evaluation of a health improvement programme delivered to pupils in targeted secondary schools in Wales. You will be able to use your excellent communication and team working skills to engage positively with young people around a complex subject, work as a team with other trainers and develop positive relationships with partner schools.

A Smoking Prevention Trainer is a very rewarding role. As the role is delivery facing it does require flexibility including the ability to commit to early start times on delivery days and the ability and willingness to travel long distances, including with some overnight stays, to deliver training programmes to target schools across Wales (travel and subsistence costs are reimbursable).

If you are a self-motivated individual, with the ability to enthuse and engage young people, we are keen to hear from you.

Appointment will be subject to an Advanced DBS check.
