This is an opportunity for role in the new Quality, Safety and Improvement directorate of the NHS Wales Executive, to be part of our team at a busy and exciting time as we step-up our support to help NHS Wales improve care for the people of Wales.

Improvement Cymru is a core part of this directorate. Together, we work alongside organisations to empower, embed and elevate improvements to quality and safety, delivering all-Wales improvement programmes to achieve quality and safety priorities.

Our aim is to support the creation of the best quality health and care system for Wales so that everyone has access to safe, effective and efficient care in the right place and at the right time.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide direct support to the Business Lead to ensure robust business and governance structures are in place for the Directorate. The post holder will be key to implementing improvements to the day-to-day operations of the Directorate including finance, procurement, performance, HR/recruitment, risk management and health & safety as well as contributing to a range of improvement and change activities and projects.

The post holder will provide specialist advice on business and governance to the Quality, Safety & Improvement Leadership Team to achieve the operational and strategic objectives of the Directorate within the resources available.

The post holder will also provide strategic leadership and line management of the Business Support team.

  • Masters Degree in business related subject or equivalent level of experience working at a senior management level in a business role.
  • Evidence of continued professional development in business related subjects eg. finance, planning, management, HR, risk management.

Experience and Knowledge

  • Specialist knowledge and experience of a number of disciplines including finance, procurement, health and safety, governance, human resources, performance management and risk management underpinned by relevant practical experience.
  • Management experience including staff management.
  • Experience of managing budgets at a directorate or department level.
