Improvement Cymru is the national quality improvement service for NHS Wales delivered by Public Health Wales. Our goal is to work with NHS Wales and its partner organisations to achieve sustainable, measurable improvements so that the services offered to patients are safer, more effective and timely.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the team delivering the newly funded Maternity and Neonatal Safety Support Programme (MatNeoSSP Wales) for NHS Wales, which aims to improve the safety, experience and outcomes of maternal and neonatal care; and provide support to enable teams to deliver a high quality healthcare experience for all pregnant people, babies and families across maternity and neonatal care settings in Wales.

N.B Local Safety Champion post holders are based within their existing Health Board, with the expectation of base location remaining as per their current NHS Wales contract.

Main duties of the job

To support MatNeoSSP we are looking to appoint a Local Safety Champion. This secondment post is offered on a part-time basis as follows:

Working with the MatNeoSSP National Programme Leads and with Clinical Lead support, you will proactively deliver and coach MatNeo related improvement support to the service within your allocated Trust/Health Board. You will be required to work in partnership with local managers and team colleagues to assist problem solving and improvement/change potential and engage local stakeholders in the process of change.

The ideal candidate for this important role will be someone who is interested and has been involved in patient safety and service improvement. Particular skills such as influencing, teaching, and working with data will be essential. Candidates will be required to demonstrate their learning and practical examples of work in improvement and patient safety. Candidates should demonstrate an ambition for continuous learning.

Interested candidates are encouraged to contact the role recruitment manager to discuss the role further if they have any queries.
