Job summary

Are you an experienced Manager looking for a varied and engaging role that makes a difference to families across Wales? Newborn Screening Wales are seeking a dynamic and ambitious individual to join our senior management team.

The Newborn Screening programmes are part of Public Health Wales. Newborn Hearing Screening Wales (NBHSW) identifies if a baby has a hearing loss that could affect their speech and language development. Newborn Bloodspot Screening Wales (NBSW) identifies babies who may have rare but serious conditions.

We are looking for an individual with drive and ambition to lead operational delivery for our north Wales region, and lead the national Failsafe service as part of a job share role. If successful, you will be responsible for ensuring safe, effective, and accessible delivery of NBHSW screening across Wales, and ensure timely NBSW screening by colleagues in our partner organisations. This role is broad in scope, with a focus on excellent delivery, quality improvement and offers a real challenge for a high calibre candidate.

Main duties of the job

The successful postholder will take responsibility for leading the Informatics and Failsafe functions for both Newborn Hearing and Bloodspot Screening and manage a high performing team of staff delivering care directly to newborn babies.

The post holder will be required to work with initiative, determination, and the ability to promote the collaborative working required to provide excellent and compassionate screening.

The post holder will have well developed analysis skills, excellent organisational skills and be an effective communicator to help ensure that the programme continues to provide excellent services for future generations. The successful candidate will enjoy working as part of a team and will lead both national and local initiatives. If you are a highly motivated, experienced manager with a strong demonstrable background in operational delivery, change management and leadership, then we are keen to hear from you.
