We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Public Health Nutritionist to join our Health Improvement Division to support a range of programmes of work where nutrition and diet is a determinant. This role will provide specialist public health nutrition expertise at a national level for Public Health Wales working alongside Nutrition and Obesity team and the Consultant in Public Health.

You will work closely to support Welsh Government in the development of food and nutrition related policy and strategy and with a range of partners both within and beyond Public Health Wales and across sectors including the independent and commercial sector.

Main duties of the job

You will use your knowledge and expertise to:

  • Lead the delivery of nutrition related health improvement projects and interventions at an All Wales level
  • Co-ordinate the development and monitoring of project plans
  • Ensure that public health interventions and activity are based on sound public health principles and evidence.
  • Develop, monitor and evaluate the delivery of health improvement action on nutrition and obesity outlined in the Public Health Wales Annual Plan.
  • Lead the implementation and monitoring of all Wales public health improvement activity working across organisations and sectors
  • Ensure that all interventions are co-produced with the public and key partners.
  • Monitor the allocated project budget in line with policies and procedures

Contributing to the delivery of health improvement projects and interventions at an All Wales level by providing specialist nutrition advice

  • Monitoring and contributing to the evaluation of health improvement action
  • Contributing to the development of interventions that are co-produced with the public and key partners
  • Leading on the dissemination of knowledge relating to public health nutrition to the public and key partners

You should be educated to Masters-level in Public Health or a nutrition-related discipline or demonstrable equivalent learning (for further details please refer to the person specification
