Job summary
We are seeking an HCPC Registered Senior Biomedical Scientist with relevant experience in diagnostic microbiology, to join the Bacteriology section , based at the University Hospital of Wales. Candidates will need to be enthusiastic, well motivated and innovative, with good organisational and practical abilities supported by scientific knowledge, well developed interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to lead and support individual and team working. An understanding and experience of good laboratory practice and UKAS ISO15189 Quality Management System is required.
Experience/Interest in IT would be beneficial.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will undertake aspects of diagnostic laboratory work supervising a section of the laboratory whilst supporting the Laboratory Manager and Operational Manager.The successful candidate will participate in robust and sustainable varying working pattern which that is both AfC and EWTD compliant. This will consist of core day shifts, 2-10pm shifts and a team of BMS staff covering 10pm to 8am nightshifts. All of these will be worked in blocks of 4 days to allow for contractual 37.5 hours to be worked over a 7 day working week.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post but not essential; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
