Job summary

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, and motivated individual to join the Communications team as a Digital Officer. We are looking for someone who is passionate about all things digital and improving communications practices.

Our communications function aims to promote and protect the image, brand and reputation of Public Health Wales and help it deliver its core programmes. The communications team supports Public Health Wales' vision to build a healthier, happier, fairer Wales.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced digital communicator to support this vital work. You will be a key member of the communications team, delivering an effective and integrated content production and publishing service to ensure a continuous flow of information.

You will provide a range of support, including content and design, to deliver high quality digital content, tailored to specific audiences and optimised for specific digital channels including website, intranet, and social media.

This permanent post is for 37.5 hours per week based in Capital Quarter 2, in central Cardiff. Further details of working arrangements can be discussed at interview.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

The purpose of the Digital Officer is to support the implementation of Public Health Wales's digital communications strategy through the delivery of high quality digital communications.

The post holder will support teams across the organisation to plan and produce high quality digital content that is in line with strategic objectives, tailored to specific audiences and optimised for specific digital channels including website, intranet, email and social media.

About us

You will join a team of digital communications experts that work across media relations, public affairs, campaigns, internal and corporate communications. They plan and produce high quality digital content that is in line with strategic objectives, tailored to specific audiences and optimised for specific digital channels including website, intranet, email and social media.

The team manage both the publishing of content on our social media channels and website, and the community responses to that content. This includes responding to enquiries from members of the public and stakeholders, and upholding our policy for moderation when necessary. This along with website analytics enables the team to report on performance of content and user behaviour, so that we are able to draw insights and advise colleagues and stakeholders on how to optimise communications activity. This overview allows us to maintain both a proactive and reactive presence, helping to protect and improve the reputation of the organisation.

As part of the Communications Team you will have the opportunity to experience all aspects of communications and see how the different specialisms work to achieve our communications aims and objectives and ultimately work to achieve a healthier future for Wales.

In practical terms, we mainly work remotely but you will be expected to come into the office twice a week.
