Principal Applied Systems Thinking Practitioner
3-year fixed term post.
Are you skilled in the application of systems thinking tools and methods? Do you have the skills to lead at a senior level? Do you want to make a difference to health and well-being in Wales?
This is a unique opportunity to join the Wider Determinants of Health Unit Team in Public Health Wales to lead on the delivery of a new innovative initiative funded by the Health Foundation's Shaping Places grant funding programme.
The programme will support Public Services Boards to apply systems-based approaches to influencing the wider determinants of health, to learn from each other and make the most of their Well-being Plans. The programme will do this through establishing learning cohorts across Wales, who will apply these methods, learn, and share the learning across Wales and with other UK nations.
The wider determinants of health are the social, environmental and economic factors that affect health and well-being. The Wider Determinants of Health Unit is an ambitious team whose mission is to maximise the influence of the public health system by translating evidence, building capability and coordinating networks of influence.
Interested candidates are encouraged to contact the role recruitment manager named below to discuss the role further if they have any queries.
Main duties of the job
You will be working with a small programme team with support from experienced public health professionals in the Wider Determinants of Health Unit.
The role involves developing and managing local, regional and national senior stakeholder relationships within a complex environment and with the Health Foundation's Shaping Places Programme Leads.
The postholder will work directly with Public Services Boards to tailor the programme to meet their requirements, to establish three national learning cohorts and to deliver a flexible Applied Systems Framework. The postholder will be responsible for leading and providing expertise on the development of programme resources, supporting the flexible application of the Applied Systems Framework, capturing learning from the programme, co-producing legacy plans and writing-up the findings.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with experience of implementing change programmes and who has demonstrable skills and knowledge in the application of systems-based approaches in organisations or partnerships.
