An opportunity has arisen to appoint a LIMS IT Technician within the Microbiology Network team, part of the Health Protection and Screening Services Division of Public Health Wales NHS Trust. The post holder will undertake various activities relating to lab information management, reporting and analysis duties, as well as provide systems maintenance and validation. The post holder will support the LIMS Manager and team in delivering the division's IT/LIMS activity.

Job responsibilities
- Responsible for supporting the Management of Microbiologys current LIMS in the wider context working in conjunction with the Microbiology LIMS Manager.
- Particular focus on supporting the networks work programme
- Distributing communications regarding LIMS, problem resolution, troubleshooting, validating the system, continued development and training.
- Support the Microbiology LIMS manager as an additional professional link for LIMS and LIMS related issues.
- Support the clinical leads of the Microbiology Methodology Development and Standardisation Group and Virology Methodology Development and Standardisation Group leads including technical translation, writing of Business Requirements Documents (BRDs) and effectively delivering problem resolutions.
- Support the creation and implementation of effective communication and reporting pathways for specimen workflow both within Wales (including reference units) and outside of Wales.
- Ensure that changes implemented are compatible with and cognisant of the Welsh Clinical Portal, Data Store, TARIAN and other downstream requirements.
- To link in with Public Health Wales informatics department on issues relating to Microbiology.
- To foster relationships with third party stakeholders e.g. Digital Health and Care Wales (DHCW) and current and future LIMS suppliers.
- In concert with the Head of Operations and the Microbiology LIMS Manager will be responsible for reporting IM&T issues to divisional and corporate groups.
- Undertakes Strategic Planning for Microbiology LIMS and LIMS related services.
- To link with DHCW to assist in the delivery of LIMS 2.0
