Are you a network engineer who is dedicated to ensuring that our public services are safe and secure? This is a new key post in the development of our networking team that will help us deliver our Digital and Data Strategy. The postholder will be working with two seniors and alongside our infrastructure and cyber teams. The networking team maintains and develops the infrastructure and deals with escalated queries to support the delivery of trust programmes.

The post is an excellent opportunity for an IT professional to develop further experience and make a positive contribution towards protecting vital NHS systems. This role requires good communication skills, a high degree of problem-solving ability, specialist technical skills, attention to detail and requires someone who can perform to a high standard, whilst under pressure, in a busy environment.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide specialist advice around networking and voice within the Digital IT team of PHW.
  • Keep up to date with the latest networking and voice technology developments.
  • Assist in researching and evaluating emerging network security threats and ways to manage them.
  • Monitor networks and voice platforms for performance
  • Test and evaluate new products and technologies
  • Aid in the design of new systems or upgrade existing ones.
  • Use advanced analytical tools to determine performance issues and resolve incidents
  • Identify improvements and implement measures
  • Investigate incidents and provide incident response.
  • Respond to assigned networking and voice service requests
  • Liaise with stakeholders in relation to network security issues and provide future recommendations.
  • Generate reports for both technical and non-technical staff and stakeholders.
  • Give advice and guidance to staff on voice/network issues

Produce technical documentation that provides all necessary information to allow continuing maintenance and development of systems and services.
