The Health Improvement Division is looking for a dynamic senior Midwife or Health Visitor to support and provide leadership in the implementation of National Breastfeeding Action Plan 2019-2024 which has the overarching strategic goal of improving breastfeeding rates in Wales.
Main duties of the job
This new post will join our existing Obesity and Nutrition Team alongside a newly appointed Public Health Principal Practitioner/Principal Nutritionist. The key role is to work collaboratively with the Consultant in Public Health and Public Health Principal Practitioner/Principal Nutritionist to deliver the National Breastfeeding Action Plan to support action on the wider population health incentive to consider breastfeeding as an option and ensure it is culturally acceptable.
The post-holder will achieve this by applying their expertise to the following key areas;
- Lead the co-ordination and design of a national programme of work to improve breastfeeding rates in Wales and improvement of outcomes for women and babies
- Development of continual and measurable quality improvement processes
- Development of policy and strategy relating to early years nutrition
- Development of strong relationships at a senior level across National and Local systems
- Contributing to evaluation, research and development
The post will work across national organisations and support Government but also build strong relationships with local Health Boards to support their work.
