Improvement Cymru is the national quality improvement service for NHS Wales delivered by Public Health Wales. Our goal is to work with NHS Wales and its partner organisations to achieve sustainable, measurable improvements so that the services offered to patients are safer, more effective and timely.

From 1 April 2023 Improvement Cymru became part of the NHS Wales Executive. As a subsidiary brand of the NHS Wales Executive, Improvement Cymru will operate in shadow format for the first 12 months before formally joining the NHS Wales Executive in April 2024.

Main duties of the job

You'll be joining an ambitious team, comprising some of the most qualified, experienced Improvement professionals in health and social care in Wales. Together, we lead, embed and champion Improvement across Wales - drawing on international best practice and evidence.As part of our new direction, we want to strengthen our team by recruiting new team members from diverse backgrounds with a mix of skills, personalities and experiences - considering candidates from both an NHS background as well as other sectors.

The successful applicant will be an integral part of a large team that delivers a number of programmes to support the Welsh Government strategy, A Healthier Wales. Project Support Officers can work on any programme in Improvement Cymru.

Your role will be varied and tailored to the programme(s) and pieces of work you are supporting, but duties are likely to include providing comprehensiveproject support and administrative coordination to the programme(s); liaising with external stakeholders and Public Health Wales partners; and assisting with the development of resources.

  • Knowledge of techniques for planning, monitoring and controlling projects

  • Project Management qualification such as Prince 2 or equivalent experience

  • Able to plan and prioritise workload in order to meet deadlines and deal effectively with conflicting priorities
