Job summary
As a professional manager working at corporate level across the organisation with considerable freedom to act, the post holder will play a key role in the delivery of the Clinical Governance agenda.
The post holder will have expert/specialist knowledge in managing clinical governance arrangements and will ensure that Public Health Wales (PHW) takes a managed and coordinated approach to clinical governance across the organisation and partner organisations in line with statutory and local requirements/arrangements.
The post holder will have excellent communication skills enabling them to provide expert advice and guidance on complex clinical governance issues to the Office of Medical Director (OMD) team and wider PHW community and will also liaise with other stakeholders, external bodies and 3rd parties (eg, other Health Boards, contractors, police, Welsh Government). The post holder will be expected to act with tact and discretion when the subject matter is sensitive or contentious.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will support the Medical Director (MD) by taking delegated responsibility for regulatory annual assessments, medical devices asset management, information sharing and records management. The post holder will also act as the Medical Devices Safety Officer (MDSO) involved in medical device incident reporting and learning opportunities.
The post holder will be responsible for the development, maintenance and delivery of the clinical governance programme/agenda including:
- Caldicott Principles
- Medicines Management
- Medical Devices
The post holder will also work with the Quality Nursing Allied Health Professionals (QNAHPs) team ensuring partnership and consistency of approach to clinical governance activities, including compliance audits within the areas identified above.
The post holder is required to work within broad policies and act independently in order to achieve defined results, working to broad policies and strategies using their own interpretation and seeking peer/external advice where necessary.
