Job summary

Fixed term (to end March 2024) - Full Time 37.5 hours/week /Secondment / Job share & Part-time hours would be considered.

The Pathways Clinical Lead will work with the Suspected Cancer Pathway (SCP)Programme Manager and the wider SCP project management team to develop strong working relationships and partnerships with clinicians, health board/trust cancer leads and other stakeholders to facilitate the strategic change needed to implement the Suspected Cancer Pathway (SCP), with a particular focus on the implementation on the prostate national optimal pathway.

The Clinical Lead will provide leadership to the programme, working inpartnership with the medical leads, and the Senior Project Managers to review the efficiency and capacity issue, adopting a critical analysis of the main constraints to facilitate transformation change across the cancer patient pathways aligned to the SCP.

The successful candidate should have excellent communication skills; the ability to build effective sustainable working relationships with key stakeholders and partners and proven experience of leading and implementing successful projects through a multi-disciplinary, multi-organisational and cross boundary approach.

Funding for the Programme has been provided to the end of 2023/24 and this role is therefore fixed term to the end of March 2024 in line with the funding that is available.

Main duties of the job

Planning an organisation skills

Develop strategy and clinical priorities for the implementation of the SCP National Optimal Pathways.

Pro-actively facilitate agreement, approval and implementation of pathways, undertaking research an evidence review and using project methodology to agree scope, goals, deliverables and benefits realisation plans to define project tasks and resource requirements, in complex multi organisational environments.

Review, analyse and interpret ongoing deliverables to assess the impact on achieving the wider programme objectives, and adjust plans accordingly.

Make dynamic adjustments to ensure key milestones are met.

Ensure outputs and deliverables are achieved in line with agreed milestone plans and delivery targets, identifying risks and initial remedial actions.

Report any longer term impact at strategic, organisational or operational levels to enable the assessment of impact on the other work streams.

Facilitate and support the formulation of HB/Trust IMTP's and long-term strategic plans and assess their impact across the respective organisation and system.

Review new or emerging national guidance and its impact on pathway design and delivery.

Lead and oversee the work required on a day to day basis, being responsible for overall delivery in line with the clinical pathways submitted.
