Job summary

The Mental Health Network is looking to appoint a Programme Support Officer to support key workstreams delivering on Welsh Government mental health strategic objectives, and in particular the suicide and self harm prevention programme of work. As part of the NHS Wales Health Collaborative, the Network operates across the national system, engaging with a full range of public sector organisations, including NHS Boards and Trusts; third sector agencies; and people with lived experience and their representative organisations; through the management of programmes and projects.

Fixed-term until 31/03/25 due to funding.

Main duties of the job

The role of Programme Support Officer will be to:

support the development, implementation and management of specific project plans

take responsibility for the management of defined areas of work which could include the development and maintenance of digital tools, platforms and services

support stakeholder communications and engagement, working with corporate communication and engagement teams, and event management technologies

ensure the voice of service users and people with lived experience inform processes of service or resource development and delivery

engage with lead professionals, across sectors, to influence practice through implementation of current national pathways and standards

support and manage whole system approaches

provide an overview of performance information and priorities

contribute to the development of key documents, requiring academic referencing; editorial oversight; review of literature and evidence; presentation and visualisation of datasets; and coordination of multiple authors

produce reports on progress for internal and external use and to deadlines

The post holder will work as part of a team implementing the Talk to me 2 suicide and self harm prevention strategy for Wales (2015-2022), through specific work-streams delivered by the NHS Wales Health Collaborative. The post holder will support the national lead to deliver on national and regional projects, requiring multi-sectoral engagement, and partnership working across disciplinary, organisational, county and other boundaries

The post holder will also link with the other mental health work-streams within the Mental Health Network childrens mental health including CAMHS and the Together for Mental Health children and young peoples programme (T4YP); and adult mental health services including perinatal mental health and eating disorders, delivering on aspects of the Together for Mental Health Strategy for Wales (2012-2022)

Key areas of business requiring support include stakeholder engagement and relationships management; management of programme documentation and communications; the development, planning and delivery of learning and development workshops and webinars; the ongoing management of a digital platform supporting learning and development across sectors; the building of capacity in support of people bereaved, or impacted by suicide; and the timely availability of data, intelligence and evidence to support workers across sectors in the delivery of suicide and self harm prevention
