Job summary
Working in partnership with the Welsh Ambulance service Save a life Cymru are seeking to appoint two Community Co-ordinators to cover Mid and SW Wales.
We are looking for enthusiastic and highly motivated individuals with knowledge and understanding of cardiac arrest, the benefits of having people trained in CPR and AED familiarisation.
You will work closely with the Clinical OHCA Programme Manager providing advice and support to communities in developing local plans in relation to the location and management of new and existing Public Access Defibrillator (PAD) sites and assisting and supporting communities with developing a programme of Basic Life Support (BLS) awareness and familiarisation.
The ambition for Wales to significantly improve OHCA outcomes requires a broad range of activities and improvements within all four-core links of the chain of survival associated with OHCA: Early Recognition and Call for Help; Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation; Early Defibrillation and Post Resuscitation Care.
You will be enthusiastic and willing to develop your skills and knowledge, to support teaching of CPR and defibrillation in the community. The successful candidates will be based at home with extensive travel across Wales.
You will be employed by the Wales Cardiac Network which forms part of the NHS Wales Health Collaborative but will be supported by the Welsh Ambulance Service and wear their uniform.
Main duties of the job
To work with communities in their designated geographical areas to promote wider awareness in the "Chain of Survival" concept. Providing comprehensive advice and support to communities in developing local strategies in relation to the location and management of new and existing Public Access Defibrillator (PAD) sites and leading the relevant communities with developing a programme of Basic Life Support(BLS) awareness and familiarisation.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

- Higher National Certificate, NVQ Level 4, Foundation Degree, Higher National Diploma or other equivalent diploma or level of experience
- Level 2 Functional Skills certificate or a Level 3 qualification in a health care related subject.
- Demonstrable proven experience of working within Health and or social care (Including the voluntary sector)
- Awareness of Statutory and Mandatory legislation and guidance for CPR/the Chain of Survival
- Planning and organisational skills which can be adapted to suit the needs of the individual/group.
- Presentation skills including the ability to deliver training packages to multidisciplinary groups, individuals, and community groups
- Thorough understanding of SaLC aims and objectives.
