Job summary

Service Manager, Ambulance Care.

This post is fixed term/secondment for 24 months to meet the needs of the service.

An exciting secondment opportunity to join a team where creative thinking and hard work is required to continuously improve the service delivery within Ambulance Care. This role will provide an opportunity to challenge yourself and develop your management and strategic skills, working closely with the Ambulance Care team and other teams within WAST, but also having to negotiate and work with numerous outside agencies, including the voluntary sector, private sector and key commissioning stakeholders.

Your profile shall be raised further as a consequence of acting in the role of Tactical Commander for the organisation. Appropriate training will be provided and this function requires your commitment to working an on-call roster.

Main duties of the job

Following a period of organisational change the Operations Directorate is configuring to both build on our foundations of success and to meet the Trust's long-term ambitions. A new structure is rolling out across the directorate and now is an exciting time to join and help create a stable and effective leadership and management team for this service area.

We are looking to recruit Service Managers, Ambulance Care .

The Area of responsibility will be the South East Region, Aneurin Bevan and Grange University Hospital and the position will report to the Head of Service. You will be the areas' operational point of contact for our external stakeholders, whilst providing leadership to your Operations Managers for effective delivery. Using your experience, you will translate organisational strategy to local delivery plans.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

  • Masters level qualification in a relevant subject or equivalent experience working at a senior level in a service delivery environment.
  • Leadership and/or Management Qualification Level 4 or equivalent.
  • Evidence of professional development/leadership development.
  • Current Silver/Tactical Commander qualification/ or willingness to complete on appointment.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable

  • Management experience and or qualifications.
