We are currently recruiting into our fantastic Trust. Here at Portsmouth University Hospital NHS Trust Audiology department, we are proud to introduce ourselves and share with you that we are looking to recruit a full-time permanent Band 5 Audiologist. We are looking for a qualified Audiologist to work across our service as part of our multiskilled team. The successful candidate will have experience in NHS adult audiology and will be eligible for RCCP or HCPC registration.

Ideally you will be looking for a Trust that will support your growth and development. We have opportunities for training, and we can support staff to complete Higher Training Scheme (HTS) modules if desired. Opportunities are available in all areas of Audiology including paediatrics, complex adults, tinnitus management, vestibular assessment, and rehabilitation. Excellent clinical, communication and organisational skills are essential.

The department provides a wide variety of Audiology services. We cover a large geographical area with clinics in Hampshire, western West Sussex, and the Isle of Wight.

Main duties of the job

Initial responsibilities will include all areas of adult audiology

We have a well-supported Audiology first direct-referral complex adult assessment service. You will be able to manage complex patients independently, including onward referrals to specialist services (Tinnitus, BAHA, ENT and Audiovestibular medicine), MRI referral and patient rehabilitation.

We fit a wide range of hearing aids including Oticon, Phonak and GN Resound, allowing you to choose the most appropriate models for your patients.

We support a busy ENT department with diagnostic testing and have booked hearing aid repairs clinics.

We cover multiple sites in Hampshire and Chichester, and you may even have the opportunity to travel to work by Hovercraft to our department on the Isle of Wight!

As a keen training department, we are looking to support personal development allowing you to take on new areas of responsibility.

1. Independent clinical testing, reporting and decision making for routine adult patients. Including hearing aid assessment, fitting, signposting to supporting agencies, basic tinnitus support, Hearing aid repair and ENT support.

2. With the support of senior staff members, the assessment and rehabilitation of more complex adults including direct referral for MRI, ENT and Audiovestibular medicine.

3. Day to day management of relevant clinical and administrative functions of the Portsmouth Audiology Service, ensuring the Audiology service maintains the highest possible standards of care; and clinical and management decisions are effectively communicated throughout the audiology service.

4. Involvement in the maintenance of accreditation though involvement in service review and audit.

5. Timely and effective response to telephone, postal and email enquiries from professionals and patients.

6. Provide appropriate professional advice and to make recommendations to the Head of Service regarding salient issues. Ensure the continued development of the service to the highest possible standards.
