Job summary

We are looking for a part-time consultant dermatologist to cover maternity leave or up to 1 year. We are looking for 3 days a week ideally, with 2 pas for admin and SPA, 3 direct patient facing sessions and one session to be involve in MDTs, departmental meetings, audit and governance, academic testing etc.

Ideally we would like someone to be involved in our on call rota (days, evening, weekends, no night, telephone at home, trainees filter calls and only need senior guidance). The work will be general and 2WW clinics, an operating list and potential for A&G over time as well.

We are not asking for specialist areas such as vulval or paeds etc. but if you have a specialist area there may be scope to flex and include in the job plan. We are a busy department with 12 consultant colleagues, trainees, specialists nurses and pharmacists and a lot of support. Work will be based in St Marys, block D, on Milton Road in Fratton.

When on call you might have to go to the Queen Alexandra Hospital to visit ward patients but during on call weeks your clinical work is cancelled to allow you time to do this in working hours.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a years maternity cover for a dermatology consultant who can demonstrate their ability to work as part of our efficient and cohesive multidisciplinary team and interact well with local GPs. The department provides a large part of the Wessex dermatology SpR rotation in addition to a research fellow and locally employed doctors.

Clinical support staff including nursing, technical and administration staff numbers are in place to support this new post.
