The Respiratory wards are fast paced and challenging. You will be working with a highly skilled, supportive and encouraging team within an experienced and established management team who are passionate and committed to delivering high quality, safe nursing care and intervention.

Being part of the Respiratory team offers the opportunity to develop your clinical skills caring for acute respiratory patients. Responsible for patients with advanced and complex respiratory disease, respiratory failure and in some cases supporting with non-invasive ventilation (NIV) High Flow Oxygen and proning.

Examples of training skills that will be available to you will include:

  • Learning and understanding how to use home non-invasive ventilation and implement treatment plans for acutely ill patients in respiratory failure.
  • Different methods in delivering oxygen therapy.
  • Caring for patients pre and post procedures including chest drains, Bronchoscopy and Thoracoscopy amongst others.

Main duties of the job

  • Ensuring high quality nursing care is coordinated and delivered using a family focused model of practice.

Clinical/Professional

  • Promote and set high standards of nursing care and maintain the delivery of quality care within the trust policies, protocols and guidelines.

  • Liaise, report and document any relevant nursing/patient needs with other health care professionals with ongoing responsibility for patient care, communicating changes as they occur.
  • Ensuring that accurate and timely patient records are maintained.
  • Implement the trust ‘values and beliefs’ ensuring they are embedded into everyday practice and evaluate their impact on the patients’ experience.
