Job summary
An
exciting opportunity has arisen for a registered nurse or practitioner to lead a project that will
aim to increase the number of volunteers who have an interest in pursuing a career
in health and care. This project is focused on the design,
delivery and development of the NHS England Volunteer to Career (VtC) initiative(s).
You will recruit and support
current volunteers and / new volunteer applicants, some from diverse
backgrounds and experiences to start a career in the NHS. By supporting them as
a volunteer and offering development, training and experience to prepare them
for applying for further education or a health and care role.
The Project Lead will
design and deliver the Volunteer to Career project for Portsmouth Hospitals
University Trust, working alongside the Voluntary Services team, the Patient
Experience team, the Nursing Workforce team and Helpforce Connect.
This is a fixed term
or secondment post until 31st March 2024, for 15 hours per week
ideally worked over 2 days
Main duties of the job
- Develop a project that improves the patient journey and supports volunteers to consider a career in healthcare.
- To identify, consult and collaborate with organisational stakeholders to ensure the project addresses workforce and other strategic drivers e.g. senior leadership team including the organisation board, HR director etc.
- Partnership working with key stakeholders/departments e.g. Volunteer Services, HR.
- To design/scope/plan VtC initiatives e.g. Vtc pathways, improving environment & culture of volunteering.
- Develop the methods for measuring both the outcomes and the impact.
- Manage and measure the delivery of the initiatives.
- To provide evidence based advise and guidance to the project team.
- To provide regular verbal communications, circulate reports and updates to the project team and senior matrons in Patient Experience with a summary report at the end of the project.
- To act as a representative for the organisation taking part in external promotional activities as appropriate, and in professional relationships and collaborative working.
- Management and reporting of the project budget forecasted and actual spend.
