We have a fantastic opportunity for a full time permanent Senior Biomedical Scientist to join our Haematology team and support our Pathology Service.
Candidates must be HCPC registered as a Biomedical Scientist and hold an MSc or equivalent in Biomedical Science.
Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities:
The role of the Haematology Senior Biomedical Scientist is to carry out investigations on samples of tissue and body fluids to aid in the diagnosis of disease and monitor the treatment of patients by:
1. Assisting in the provision of reliable and accurate analytical data for the Trust, in accordance with relevant regulatory standards and requirements (including ISO 15189, HFEA and MHRA).
2. Working as part of a team of Biomedical Scientists to deliver, within budget, a patient-orientated medical laboratory service to contribute to efficient and effective care.

- Acting as a Haematology section leader, managing and co-ordinating the day-to-day technical activities.
- Demonstrating an exemplary standard of work at all times; including the supervision, training and guidance of laboratory staff as required.
- Providing specialist advice to clinicians as to the appropriateness of tests and timescales.
- Assisting in the ongoing achievement of departmental quality standards.
- To have attained specialist knowledge in Haematology through a minimum of three years experience as a HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientist working in a Haematology laboratory demonstrated by the possession of an IBMS approved Masters level qualification or equivalent.
- Participating in the agreed working patterns of the department to provide a safe and effective service.
- Deputising for the Haematology Operational Manager as required.
