Job summary

Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust invites applications for a substantive Consultant Clinical Oncologist with a specialist interest in gynaecological cancer. This is an exciting opportunity to work and join a highly motivated and well supported multi-disciplinary team.

Situated on the beautiful South Coast and adjacent to the South Downs National Park, yet only just over an hour from London by train, Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth offers the best of both worlds. IGRT, VMAT and 4D-CT are in routine use and a linac replacement programme to four cutting-edge Varian Trubeams (complete with 6 degree of freedom couches and 4D-CBCT) was completed in 2020. Interstitial brachytherapy was introduced in 2020, SABR for lung primaries commenced in 2021 and SABR for oligometastatic disease (bone and nodal metastases) commenced in December 2023. We have commissioned our new treatment planning software, Raystation, in use from May 2024.

Main duties of the job

This is 10 PA post, but applicants wishing to work less than full time are most welcome to discuss their requirements. In addition to gynaecological cancer, a second tumour type will be combined, which can include Urology, Upper GI, Lymphoma, or non-melanoma skin depending on hours preferred. We would be very happy to discuss options depending on the candidates interests.
