Job summary

We have a dynamic team which includes sonographers conducting research to PhD level, and extending their roles within GI, MSK and Head & Neck and Obstetric ultrasound. Clinical development is encouraged always here at Portsmouth University Hospital Trust. Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS trust offers a diverse working environment with out-patients, maternity, community sites and a sonographer led in-patient department which is excellent for autonomous practise and experiencing a range of acute pathology. The sonographers are encouraged to rotate through all areas and offer a comprehensive range of ultrasound examinations including abdominal, gynaecological and obstetric. Our rooms equipped with top of the range Canon/Samsung/GE ultrasound machines, all of which are on a rolling replacement programme. In addition, all our obstetric rooms are equipped with slave monitors for patients.
Main duties of the job
An exciting training opportunity has arisen within the Ultrasound Team at Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust to undertake Postgraduate Training in Medical Ultrasound at Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth. We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated student sonographer to join our team and undertake their obstetric and gynae ultrasound training. A successful applicant is expected to have high professional standards, being able to demonstrate excellent patient skills, compassion, self-awareness, and problem-solving skills. Any offers made to successful candidates will also be subject to the normal employment checks and a successful application to the university course. Main duties of the job To complete a training scheme with the aim of achieving a PgC in OBS/GYN Ultrasound that will ultimately lead to being able: -To perform obstetric and gynaecological ultrasound examinations. -To assess and report on own ultrasound examinations and maintain appropriate records. -To teach ultrasound to other health professionals. -To participate in research, audit and CPD.
