Job summary

The main responsibilities of this role will require the post holder to support the delivery of high-quality Occupational Health and Well being Services (OHWS) to NHS Trust employees & external clients, to promote health and well being and safeguard employee's health from risks arising from their working environment. The post holder will be involved in the development of services to ensure the delivery of evidence-based practice with the highest possible standards of care. The post holder will be required to learn a diverse range of clinical and clerical skills performed with appropriate supervision from the occupational health nurses and administrative staff.

Main duties of the job

The service aims to provide a comprehensive and impartial service to approximately 8,5000 employees working in the Trust and a further number of employees within commercial companies who the OHWS provides services too. The service is based in the Occupational Health & Well being Service at Queen Alexandra Hospital.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to NVQ 2 or relevant equivalent qualification or healthcare related study
  • Confident & competent in clinical skills and able to work on own initiative.

Desirable

  • Level 2 English and Maths
  • Spirometry & audiometry skills or willing to be trained.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working in a healthcare environment and / or in occupational health, outpatients, GP practice or another clinic environment.

Desirable

  • Experience of completing medical assessments, eye tests, height, weight, blood pressure measurements and other clinical tests as appropriate for the role.
  • Experience of performing phlebotomy or willing to be trained.

Additional criteria

Essential

  • Ability to work independent with minimal supervision at times and work as part of a team.
  • Effective client care & customer care skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to meet the minimum skill set within first twelve months of appointment with support and development where required
  • Good IT skills.

Desirable

  • Hold a full driving license and have the use of a car.
