We are delighted to be able to offer the opportunity for a highly motivated and ambitious Consultant Surgeon with a special interest in Head and Neck Cancer, as well as Skin Cancer to join our team.
This is a new post created to meet the increasing demands of the Head & Neck cancer service.
We are looking for a Consultant Surgeon with drive and vision to enhance our quality patient centred service. The post is based at Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth, with the possibility of providing a visiting role to St Mary's Hospital on the Isle of Wight.

Main duties of the job
We aim to recruit an outstanding and forward-thinking Maxillofacial Head & Neck Surgeon, who will undertake inpatient surgery as a part of the Head & Neck MDT, and a spectrum of maxillofacial care, and contribute to the 1:7 Maxillofacial general on-call rota. The postholder will also provide outpatient clinics and surgical sessions under local anaesthetic in support of the wide range of maxillofacial care provided within the department. There is also the requirement to give on-site support and input as needed in relation to other related PHU specialties, and provide training and support for our junior staff.
Full GMC registration is required (GDC optional), with a licence to practice.

The department is based within the
Head and Neck Clinical Services Centre, which comprises the Departments of: ENT
and Audio-Vestibular Medicine, Audiology, Maxillo-Facial Surgery, Ophthalmology
and Dermatology. The MFU has a team of specialists providing orthodontics, oral
surgery and restorative dentistry as part of dental and surgical MDT care. We
have a fully equipped MFU laboratory with highly skilled specialist technicians
providing the support for rehabilitation post-surgery and complex care. Clinical
support staff including nursing, technical and administration staff numbers are
in place to support this post.

The appointee will join the
Maxillofacial Team as a Consultant Surgeon and will be expected to participate
in all facets of department activity with particular focus on the management of
Head and neck cancer patients and reconstruction.
The post will be based at Queen
Alexandra Hospital, Maxillofacial Department with a possible visiting role to
St, Marys Hospital in the Isle of Wight (clinics and day case surgery only). Full participation in teaching, audit and
research will be expected. The Trust
runs a mentorship scheme which is accessible to all new consultants.
