Job summary
We are looking for a motivated and innovative nurse to join our busy and friendly, Early Pregnancy Unit here at Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust.
Main duties of the job
You will provide face to face consultations with women who have presented with pain and bleeding in early pregnancy.
Assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of early pregnancy conditions.
Providing emotional support and management for women and their families with recurrent miscarriage
You will be a expert source of information and supervision for the multi disciplinary team.

Job responsibilities
To continually develop a nurse led service for women presenting with problems in early pregnancy.
To provide timely and effective evidence based practice, diagnosis, treatment, information, counselling, psychological support and health promotion to the women, their partners and family attending the clinic. To refer women to Gynaecology outpatients, genitourinary medicine, Contraception & Sexual Health Clinic. To be responsible for clinical practise and nursing standards within the Nurse led Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit (EPAU).
To undertake an expanded and extended scope of practice, applying a specialist body of knowledge and skills, to facilitate the delivery of high quality clinical care within the EPAU.
As an expert lead nurse providing clinical care whilst managing and redesigning the Early pregnancy services for the benefit of the patients, whilst effectively influencing the wider professional agenda within and outside the Trust.

Essential
- Current RN +/- RN, registration with NMC and any other relevant post registration qualifications.
- Post Registration qualifications:
- Qualification in pregnancy scanning (first trimester)
- Clinical history taking & physical examination (Level 3)
- Clinical decision making the acute setting (Level 3)
- Qualification in pregnancy scanning (first trimester)
- Teaching qualification ENB 998, CG730 or mentorship
Desirable
- Other professional qualifications/courses relevant to area.
- Nurse Prescriber
- Counselling skills/qualification
Experience
Essential
- Significant experience within Gynaecology/Midwifery with evidence of professional development.
- Evidence of recent experience in acute gynaecology emergency.
- Evidence of team leadership and change management with relevant management/leadership course
