Velindre Cancer Centre - Clinical Nurse Specialist - Gynae Oncology.
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced nurse to join our clinical nurse specialist team at Velindre Cancer Centre.
You must have an understanding of the needs of cancer patients; possess excellent communication skills for advising and supporting patients, relatives and other health professionals along with knowledge of managing a range of conditions, including disease progression complications, and management of side effects of systemic anti-cancer treatment and radiotherapy.
To use a range of professional and clinical skills and to act as a resource and advocate for patients. To promote and support the holistic wellbeing of patients, family and carers. To work as a core member of the Multidisciplinary team (MDT), supporting the cancer pathway to improve patient experience. To deliver evidence based individualised patient care according to patients changing health needs, through Holistic Needs Assessment (HNA).
This post is a Fixed term/Secondment for 12 months from 1st September 2026 to 31st August 2027 due to secondment cover. If you are interested in applying for the secondment position, you must obtain permission from your current line manager prior to applying for this post
Main duties of the job
Act as a patient's key worker and support the coordination of patient care along the treatment pathway.
Ensure patients are offered holistic needs assessments at relevant points throughout the pathway.
Assess patient information needs and meet those needs as required.
Clinically review and assess cancer patients in the Outpatients setting.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
