If this sounds like you, we have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Architect who will play a significant role in the digital workstream of the new Velindre Cancer Centre (nVCC) project.This fixed term role will work collaboratively with our existing Digital Services team and service users to undertake a 'ground up' design and subsequent implementation of the digital services fit for our new, state of the art and environmentally sustainable hospital. Our new home will house a world class cancer centre that extends and enhances specialist cancer treatment and supports the delivery of cancer care closer to home at our regional sites.Our ambitious Digital Strategy underpins the technologies we will deploy across the Trust, which includes the nVCC. We aim to revolutionise the way in which we deliver services by introducing innovative technologies, working on digital inclusion and embedding data & insight into our everyday. We recognise that the success of the digital solutions we deliver is as much to do with our people and culture as it is to do with technology.

Main duties of the job

  • Work as part of the project team for the new Velindre Cancer Centre (nVCC) under the direction of the Digital Workstream Lead,
  • Analyse technical and business requirements, followed by the identification and implementation of innovative digital solutions,
  • Be consulted about design and provide design critique and technical direction that align to the relevant strategies,
  • Identify, plan and direct digital enabling works to allow the successful transition from the old to new hospital.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Essential

  • Specialist knowledge and expertise across one or more specialised digital areas, acquired through degree level or equivalent qualification/experience plus additional specialist knowledge
  • Understanding of information systems concepts and practices, concerning the software / product lifecycle (e.g. Agile, Waterfall, DevOps).
  • Knowledge of standards, practices and assessment and certification programmes relevant to the IT industry.
  • Understanding of methods and techniques for structured reviews, including reviews of technical work products, test plans, business cases, architectures and any other key deliverables
  • Knowledge of the digital infrastructure and the IT applications and service processes used within an enterprise organisation, including those associated with sustainability and efficiency.
  • Working knowledge of the software which forms part of the operating platform infrastructure
  • Knowledge and understanding of infrastructure configurations
  • Understands the principles and practice of good sustainable, secure, maintainable and efficient system design. Together with standard industry design approaches.
